The Why

If you’re a beginner, like me, you might have heard a million times over that it is crucial to ask yourself why you’re embarking on the coding journey. Here’s mine:

I’ve finally chosen a career path.

I’ve got mad foreign language skills, running is a favorite pastime, and I can keep secrets so well, you’d think I’d be hired as a spy by now That’s not so much the case, as I’ve been working as a language teacher and an administrative assistant since my graduation a few years back. Though I have learned plenty in these roles, I just wasn’t being challenged enough and I definitely wasn’t happy, playing modern-day secretary. It wasn’t until I decided that it was time I change my future by taking action now. So, here I am at the beginning of this journey to become a ‘Suitcase Coder’.

I’m a designer at heart with a passion for puzzles!

I simultaneously admire and envy creators, designers, artists, mathematicians, and engineers. Unfortunately, I cannot solely rely on my creative juices nor my analytical skills to fuel my career. Fortunately, I find joy in combining my admiration for design and my analytical abilities to creatively work through any task that comes my way. I yearn to work as a front-end developer to combine design and functionality.

It’s time for an upgrade!

Image a world where you surround yourself with a community of people who challenge, motivate, support and encourage you. Now imagine working with your community on your schedule – that’s my upgrade, my end goal. I want to take on projects beyond four walls, that not only that interest me, but projects that will challenge me as a developer, radiate positivity, benefit the world around me, and most importantly, help me connect with amazing people and places around the globe.

** Undrafted (here’s the version you’ll find in the margin of my notebook):   Career change, understand website-building, be able to create a design and make it functional, work in a different area if I go back to corporate America, I will have daily tasks with end goals. Eventually, I can build freelance business/projects and work my own hours or find a job that allows me to build my own schedule, work remotely, and TRAVEL.
